Sise, written from Portsmouth, N.H., to Moses, instructing him to proceed to New Orleans, and how to handle cargo and expenses, specifying Moses' salary and appointment as captain of ship Nestor; sailing agreement (1840 Apr. 21) between London merchant James Dunlop and Moses, to have the Nestor, then in Le Havre, to sail to New Orleans; and letter (1841 March 26) from Joshua Bates, London merchant, to Moses, with detailed instructions to proceed to Havana and obtain freight to St. Petersburg.
